Going Green! Make-Up, Your Body, and The Earth.

If anything else, take care of your health and take care of the Earth! A lot of us have gotten out of touch with these two basic life principles in the age mass production of…just about everything. Chemicals, artificial preservatives and other additives are used to make beauty products last thus increase profits. The big problem is that these additives most of the time are not at all goo

for our bodies, nor good for the earth once we dispose of them.  Over 60% of the make-up we put on our faces is absorbed into our bodies! Knowing that, it should be important to make sure what you put on your skin is natural and healthy for the body.

There are lots of earth-friendly make-up products out there, but first you’d need to know what to avoid in your products. Below is a list of hazards to watch out for in your products so that you’ll know what you are getting is truly earth friendly and healthy for your body:

Parabens: These are additives used in make-up to slow bacterial growth and are speculated to carcinogenic because they have been found in breast cancer tissue. The second thing you may want to look into.

Phalates:
Phalates (such as DBP for example, found in nail polishes) are found in nail polishes and perfumes and are easily absorbed through the skin. They have been shown to affect the reproductive systems of lab rights, and produce feminize effects to baby rodents.

Formaldehyde:
Usually found in mascaras and nail polishes.  Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen and skin irritant.

Petroleum/Mineral Oil: Both of these additives are found in just about any kind or product out there. From lip balm, to lotions, petroleum and mineral oil is there. They are both been proven to be carcinogens, and even cause death in lab rats.

Lead: Commonly found in lipstick. We apply lipstick several times a day! So, imagine the buildup of lead in the body over years and years? Wow!
